Donald MacKenzie

Co-Founder and CFO

Donald is the co-founder and CFO of LifeVault, Inc.

He is an operational executive with a core finance background and expertise in building and growing companies and world-class teams. Don’s direct industry experience includes manufacturing, distribution, alternative asset investing, and professional services companies.

Don began his career in the assurance and transactions advisory groups of two “big-four” CPA firms. During his time with PwC and Ernst & Young, Don was involved in over 100 due diligence engagements for financial and strategic buyers. Target companies included manufacturing, distribution, retail, pharmaceutical, services and technology companies. He also managed several business valuation and corporate recovery projects.

Don left PwC to join the management team of Avery Weigh-Tronix, a private-equity-backed global manufacturer and distributor of weighing systems. AWT had operations in 25 countries and grew to $375 million annual revenue, largely through acquisitions. He left AWT to be the CFO/COO and general partner of two global venture capital firms. With Atlas Venture and then Polaris Venture Partners Don managed all the operations and administration of the firms. In 2009 Don was appointed CFO/COO (and subsequently president) of Accounting Management Solutions, a professional services company providing interim, consulting and search capabilities for senior finance and accounting personnel.

In 2014 Don formed Seaforth Consulting to provide consulting and advisory services to a range of companies from startup technology and biotech businesses to middle market private equity owned or privately held companies. Don is a graduate of the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. He is a UK Chartered Accountant, and has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales for over 25 years. He is a member of the Board of the Boston Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth.
